There are two similar things between Cameroon and Cape Verde. The first one is that ahead of today’s clash in the World Cup qualifiers both teams have the same number of points. The second one is that neither the Indomitable Lions nor the Blue Sharks are what they used to be. After all, look at the latest statistics: Cape Verde have lost just once in their last five matches, whereas Cameroon have managed to win just a single game in their last five matches. And while Cape Verde have a good coach and a good generation of footballers at his disposal, the Cameroon team is burdended with their president Samuel Eto’o and his conflict with the new coach. Who is to blame for the row betwen him and the Ministry in the first place is debatable. But Eto’o refused to be humiliated like this and continued the row even with the coach. He criticized him in public, but calmed the situation and apologized for the stormy reaction, pointing out that the coach had his support. But the row continued as Eto’o decided to put away the balls and other necessary props for the training, forcing the Brys’ staff to go out and by them.Ugly scenes as Eto’o publicly attacks the new Cameroon coachAhead of Cape Verde, another drama. Samuel Eto’o, who tried to at least keep his coaching staff near Brys indicated that he is ready not to accredit the members of the staff of the new Belgian coach, which would leave the latter alone on the sidelines, with his replacements, for the matches against Cape Verde and Angola. Former Barcelona striker wrote to the ministry, with whom he is in conflict.”Only the members of the technical management appointed by the executive committee of Fecafoot are those recognized by FIFA and authorized to receive the necessary accreditations (…) will be to have a sideline without assistants, without doctors, without a physiotherapist and without a team manager“ he wrote.
