FKF Div. One: Michael Olunga Football Academy to announce new coach next month set plans for upcoming season

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Division One side Michael Olunga Football Academy (MOFA) is expected to name a new coach to succeed Kassim Otieno by the end of the month. The position became vacant last month after Otieno parted ways with the club following a defeat in the FKF Division One/National Super League promotion playoffs to Fortune Sacco at Dandora Stadium. Before the playoffs, MOFA, in their second season in the third division, performed exceptionally well, finishing second to eventual Zone B champions APS Bomet, before experiencing playoff heartbreak. In an exclusive interview with Mozzart Sport, the Homabay-based club’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Victor Ogada, the elder brother of Harambee Stars captain and the team’s director, Michael Olunga, said they had not yet started the search for a new coach, but plans are now underway to appoint one within a month.“We have not started the process just yet, but in a month, we will go through the applications we have received and announce the man to the fans,” he stated.MOFA returns to the drawing board following promotion setbackReflecting on the previous season, Ogada noted that they had a good squad to marshal the league, but a lack of experience cost them at the last minute.“We had one of the best squads in the league. MOFA scored the most goals and was playing flowing football, but towards the end, the experience cost us the league and a place in the National Super League. I think we should have done better, but we hope for the best next season.”Ahead of the new campaign, the CEO revealed that MOFA will hold nationwide trials to bring the best talents to their fold.Earlier in the month, Mozzart Sport reported that the team had parted ways with more than fifteen players whose contracts had ended.According to Ogada, they will tour Kisumu, Mombasa, and Nairobi in search of raw talent.Michael Olunga football academy MOFA partnered with three schools in Nyanza Region namely Kisumu Day (kisumu), Agoro Sare (Homa Bay) and St. Marys Yala (Siaya) to assist in his drive to nature football talents and offer scholarships to gifted students. pic.twitter.com/MylGhsuI5u— DHOLUO DICTIONARY , PhD (@Thriving_luos) July 11, 2023 “We will have trials countrywide, but uniquely, we will camp in Kisumu, Mombasa, and Nairobi. When the time is right, dates and venues will be communicated through the team’s channels.”Meanwhile, Ogada denied claims that MOFA is seeking to merge with a club in the National Super League (NSL) ahead of the new season, stating, “Next season we will probably play in FKF Division One Zone B. But you never know. Let’s wait and see what happens.”##NAJAVA_MECA_8158436##
