U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball, tee times and groups to watch

The U.S. Golf Association will begin its 2021 championship season this weekend with the U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball at Maridoe Golf Club in Dallas.

The Four-Ball, as well as the men’s version of this tournament, were canceled in 2020 at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Maridoe will host its first USGA championship with this event after having hosted several men’s amateur events throughout 2020.

The Four-Ball begins on Saturday, April 24. Below are tee times and pairings for the first two rounds of stroke play. The field will then be cut to 32 sides with five matches following to declare a champion.

Teams to watch

Megha Ganne & Katie Li

Megha Ganne is one of the top female amateurs in the country. She recently competed at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur and in 2019, was a U.S. Women’s Amateur semifinalist. Ganne is partnering with fellow New Jersey player Li, who most recently was runner-up at the Sung Hyun Park Junior Championship.

Meghan Stasi & Dawn Woodard

These two are the stalwarts of the field, having played in all five previous Four-Balls. They will become the only two players to play in every U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball since the championship’s inception in 2015. The week before the Four-Ball, Stasi won the inaugural LNGA Mid-Am Championship and Woodard finished T-2.

Evelyn Arguelles & Hanna Harrison

Dallas Baptist has been one of the hottest teams in women’s college golf this year. The NCAA Division II team won a 41-team Division I tournament earlier this spring, and strung together 10 consecutive tournament titles (dating to last season). These two senior teammates bring plenty of experience, and you may recognize Arguelles from the 2018 U.S. Women’s Open.

Ellen Port & Lara Tennant

There’s a wealth of tournament experience in this group, as well as five combined U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur titles (to go along with Port’s four U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur titles). Tennant has won the past two Senior Women’s Amateurs. At 59 (Port) and 54 (Tennant), they’re the oldest two players in the field.

Gianna Clemente & Avery Zweig

These two teens represent the other end of the age spectrum. The 13-year-old Clemente and 14-year-old Zweig are the youngest players in the field. Zweig made headlines earlier this year by winning the AJGA’s ANNIKA Invitational while Clemente has a pair of top-5 finishes in the Dustin Johnson World Junior and the Dixie Women’s Amateur.
