For the next 30 days, the whole world will be watching one of the strongest tournaments on the planet – European Championship. Apart from the World Cup, Coppa America and AFCON, this is the most exciting competition in the world of football. For some of the participants, it’s even tougher than the World Cup (Kylian Mbappe). This addition will be played in Germany and will last from June 14th until July 14th, when we will get the new/old European champion.Who is participating?Time for some action🥳Euro 2024Im here for team England pic.twitter.com/8yfTAo0Qlm— Lietta Jacob💎 (@lietta_jay02) June 14, 2024 Apart from hosts Germany, 23 other countries qualified for this tournament: Albania, Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, France, Georgia, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Scotland, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey and Ukraine.Who are the favorites?Lehmann: ‘England have mentality problems’As always, European giants like England and France are there at the very top. The French team is at it’s peak for years now. They were World Champions in 2018, runners-up in 2022, they also finished second in EURO 2016, but lost in Round of 16 in 2020. England is last EURO’s finalist and have the strongest team (on paper). Coach Gareth Southgate put additional pressure on himself by announcing he will step down if his team fails to win the tournament. Other strong teams are certainly Portugal, who are also at its peak with fantastic players across the board (Ronaldo, Silva, Dias, Leao, Fernandes) and they won the tournament back in 2016. Germany and Spain are record three time winners, but they both faced their setbacks in the recent years and have new coaches. However, with quality players at every position, they can always surprise just as the current champion Italy. They also have a new manager (Luciano Spalletti) and even thou they don’t have so many star players like other teams, their tactical knowledge and famous luck should put them right at the top of the pile.Where the games will be played?Mourinho predicts EURO winner, names most loyal fansThe tournament will get underway on June 14 at the 67,000-capacity Allianz Arena, with hosts Germany set to welcome Scotland to the home of Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich. England supporters will then head to the Frankfurt Arena, home of Eintracht Frankfurt, where they will face Denmark. The 47,000-seater ground was built in 1925 and will be the venue for five Euro 2024 fixtures. Next up is a trip to the River Rhine and the Cologne Stadium for their final group game against Slovenia. Famous Westfalenstadion, the Borussia Dortmund’s home will host six fixtures at Euro 2024, including a semi-final on the July 10.
