Mwalala using remaining matches as part of Mozzart Bet Cup preps

KCB FC are using the remaining FKF Premier League matches as part of preparations for their upcoming mozzart Bet CuP final against Kenya Police FC on 29 June 2024 at Dandora Stadium, Nairobi.Speaking to Mozzart Sport after seeing his side battle out to a barren draw against Posta Rangers, KCB FC head coach Benard Mwalala revealed that his sides’ set up was partially motivated by the choices that he will have to make in the Mozzart Bet Cup Finals.Kennedy Onyango happy to have won league with Gor on debutKCB will be without two of their key players who are suspended for the final.Midfielder Brian “Rio” Ochieng and principal marksman Derrick Otanga are both suspended for accumulating two consecutive yellow cards. The two key players who ordinarily would have been on the starting line up were both named on the bench for their match against Posta Rangers with Maurice Owino and Collins Neto preferred in their positions. Mwalala revealed that he had the finals in mind while making that decision.“Yes. We brought in Neto as part of preparations for the final. Rio was also not involved today. We will be missing the two key players in the final and so especially for Neto, we are trying to prepare him and get him ready for the Mozzart Bet Cup,’ he said.Mwalala’s KCB were dominated by the Benard Kawinzi-coached Posta Rangers from the start of the game and found themselves on the back foot for the majority of the first half. Mwalala said that his side gave Posta too much respect.“We started the game badly, especially in the first half. We gave them too much respect which gave them the confidence and the chance to play. In the second half, we were a little better after the substitutions,” he explained.##NAJAVA_MECA_8163796##With the slow start, Mwalala responded by withdrawing James Mazembe for Stephen Etyang in the 35th minute in a bid to revitalize his left side of the attack which was clearly dysfunctional. In the second half, both teams failed to convert the chances and half chances that the created and settled for a barren draw at the Police Sacco Stadium“It’s my worry as a coach when we don’t create chances. However, when we create chances, my attackers have to convert them,” Mwalala adds.KCB will play AFC Leopards and Nairobi City Stars respectively in their two final league matches before the Mozzart Bet Cup final.
