Kakamega Homeboyz FC goalkeeper Ibrahim Wanzala might be on his way out of the Kakamega-based FKF Premier League side before the start of the new season in search of growth and greener pastures.Wanzala was impressive for Homeboyz and the Kenya Under 20 side before suffering an injury that sidelined him for most of the season and limited his appearances to just three league matches out of a possible thirty-four.##NAJAVA_MECA_8183914##In his absence, James Ssetuba has been the most frequent figure in the Homeboyz goal this season, but Wanzala was once again between the sticks for his team’s final game of the season, their 1-0 loss to Tusker FC on Sunday at Ruaraka Sports Grounds. He spoke to Mozzart Sport after the match about his season, struggle with injury, recovery, and future plans.“I have had an unfortunate season where I got injured after coming from the national Under 18 team games. I had a knee injury, a ligament sprain that has kept me out for the better part of the season, but I am happy and want to thank God that I have now recovered,” said Wanzala. This meant that the 19-year-old goalkeeper’s plans were disrupted and he had to restrategize.“The injury blocked the plans that I had made for the year, but I will keep pushing and hope that I can achieve them next season,” he continued.Part of next season’s plans might take place in a different setting, according to Wanzala.“I have big plans. I have some offers on the table that I am considering, but I will have to sit down with the boss (Kakamega Homeboyz chairman Cleophas Shimanyula) and discuss the best way out. In the meantime, I will fight for the badge until my last day.”Wanzala, who is in South Africa with the national team for the COSAFA Cup championship after making it to the final 23-man squad, is thankful to the Sports Cabinet Secretary and the Football Kenya Federation for giving him the chance to showcase his talent all the way from the ranks of the U15, U17, U18, U20, and now U23.Gor Mahia granted license to participate in CAF Champions League
