Ulinzi coach laments prolonged postponement of FKF Women’s Cup final

Ulinzi Starlets coach Joseph Wambua has faulted FKF for delaying the FKF Women’s Cup final, which is set to be played on 6th July, two months since the semifinal matches were staged. The Starlets booked a final date with Kibera Soccer Women after beating league champions Police Bullets in the semifinal. Soccer Women, on the other hand, went past Zetech Sparks to qualify for the Cup final for the first time.##NAJAVA_MECA_8187174##The final was initially set to be played on June 16, but was pushed forward to allow the Junior Starlets to feature in the World Cup, in which they beat Burundi to secure a spot in the tournament set to be played in the Dominican Republic. The postponement has not gone well with Wambua, whose Ulinzi Starlets are eyeing a third Cup in a row. He says the delay has had a negative impact on the players and will affect their preparations.“We have waited for the final for the longest time despite playing the semis on May 4th. It has impacted the players negatively because they have waited for so long, and it also means the season will end in July, which translates to limited time to prepare for the next season. It’s almost two months now since we played our semis, and I’m wondering why the final should be postponed for that long,” he told Citizen Digital.Bruno pleased with Otenga’s performance in 2024, targets promotion next yearDespite lamenting the delays, he says they will be ready for the final, with all his players available for selection after Diana Shakava recovered from injury.“We are well prepared for the final. The only major injury doubt I had was for Diana Shakava, but she has since recovered well,” he added. He understands that his team will be facing a good side and warns that there is no room for negligence as they could be punished.“We will give Kibera Soccer the respect they deserve considering that they managed third position in the cup last season, so they will be aiming for a better finish. I’m urging my players to stay focused ahead of the final, and I believe having done it for the last two editions, we shall win it for the third time in a row.”Kenya Police and Zetech will face off in the third-position playoff.Suspended Otanga confident KCB will scoop Mozzart Bet Cup
