Police Sacco Stadium set for major upgrades

Police Sacco Stadium will undergo improvements to make it more habitable for visiting teams, fans and to enhance the security of players during matches ahead of the new season. This was revealed by Kenya Police FC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Chris Oguso on the sidelines of the club’s Mozzart Bet Cup win celebrations at Ulinzi Sports Complex, Lang’ata.Police FC won the Mozzart Bet Cup last Saturday after defeating KCB FC 8-7 on post match penalties to not only qualify as Kenya’s representatives in the CAF Confederation Cup but also walked home Ksh2 million richer courtesy of Mozzart Bet.COSAFA Cup: Why Harambee Stars exit is a blessing for Gor MahiaThe just concluded season was characterised by the lack of state of the art sporting facilities especially in Nairobi,where more than half of the Premier League teams hail from, following the closure of both Nyayo and Kasarani Stadia for renovations.Police Sacco Stadium was one of the best alternatives for teams and hosted many matches from the FKF Premier League, Women’s Premier League and the National Super League among others.The stadium was initially expected to host low risk and medium risk matches but ended up hosting high risk matches which saw some of them hit with controversies and in particular the Mozzart Bet semi final match between Police FC and AFC Leopards where a referee was hit by an object and fans stormed into the field allegedly to protest on a dubious call.##NAJAVA_MECA_8191715##With such scenes, it obviously pointed out areas that need improvements and Oguso has revealed that plans are in place.“Our stadium was opened by H.E President William Ruto on 3rd February 2023 and he gave us Ksh150 million. Our patron, Interior Principal Secretary Dr. Raymond Omollo has said that he is going to pursue the money which will help us in improving the stadium.” said OgusoEven while following up on the money from the president, there are improvements that will he done internally by the SaccoGor Mahia learn 2024 CECAFA Kagame Cup fixtures“We need to work on the terraces and the perimeter fence and I want to thank our sacco who have promised to work on the perimeter fence before the new season begins.” said Oguso“This is the only team that has a stadium, two years into the premier league which is a milestone and things can only get better.” he concluded.Police FC will resume training for league and continental preparations within the next two weeks.
