EXCLUSIVE: Kakamega Homeboyz write to FKF accusing Gor Mahia of player tapping

Kakamega Homeboyz have come out guns blazing, accusing record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia of attempting to sign and register Hillary Juma illegally. Juma has been heavily linked with a move to Gor in recent days with unconfirmed reports indicating that he trained with the record league winners on Friday. Word of his presence at the Gor camp spread fast, reaching Homeboyz bosses prompting them to raise the matter with the FKF Leagues and Competitions Committee for assistance in solving the ownership dispute. ##NAJAVA_MECA_9296##In a letter signed by Homeboyz Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Bernard Shitiabayi, the club revealed that Juma had a running contract that is set to expire in March 2028.”The above named player has a running contract with our club which is to end of 25/03/2028. It was yesterday when we learnt that he has been training with Gor Mahia,” read the opening bit of the letter. Gor Mahia unveil trio set to bolster club in upcoming Kagame CupThe 2023 Mozzart Bet Cup winners accused Gor of attempting to tap the player as formal negotiations for his transfer had not been discussed between the two clubs. “The act by Gor Mahia of allowing the player to train with them contravenes FIFA statutes on professional players. The player status regulation prohibits any club to engage a player with a running contract with another club. More so the Football Kenya Federation league regulation prohibits any club to be in talks with a contracted player,” went on the letter. Homeboyz went on to quote relevant articles on the FKF Constitution to solidify their case against Gor Mahia who are understood to be considering Juma a key player ahead of their CAF Champions League return. “This is in violation of sub article 6.2.8 of FKF rules and regulation 2019. Furthermore it is in violation of FIFA statute article 14(2) article 17(5) and 18b(2) . We call upon FKF, who are the custodian of football and rules to apply the law against Gor Mahia,” added the letter. What appears to complicate the transfer is that Juma is believed to have issued a termination notice and petitioned FKF to help him cut ties with Homeboyz amicably and the legal way. Mozzart Bet Cup MVP Owino relishes midfield return and eyes CAF gloryWhen contacted for a comment, Juma admitted that Gor were indeed in demand of his services but had not signed a deal with the club. “I have been approached by the club but a deal hasn’t been reached as the two clubs haven’t agreed on the transfer,” he acknowledged the interest. This is not the first time Juma has been linked with a move to Gor as he was associated with a potential move to the club last year. AFC Leopards have also been linked to the player.
