Ian Maatsen is having a summer he’d gladly forget.The 22-year-old player had been initially left out of the Netherlands EURO 2024 squad, learning of his omission just three days ahead of the Champions League final between his club at the time, Borussia Dortmund, and Real Madrid.After losing that match, he went on vacation with his girlfriend, enjoying Mykonos island in Greece on a glamorous yacht.However, after Teun Koopmeiners was forced out of Ronald Koeman’s squad through injury, the Dutch coach called Maatsen to replace him.And in the fairytales, now comes the best part, when that written-off returns to achieve the glory.
