Football Kenya Federation unveils youth team registration requirements for Club Licensing

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has published new requirements for FKF Premier League, Women Premier League, and National Super League clubs that must be met before registering their youth teams as part of the Club Licensing requirements for the upcoming campaign.In a bid to bring professionalism to Kenyan football, the governing body has been gradually rolling out the Club Licensing policy, which started in 2016 with top-tier sides and will be extended to the women’s top-flight league and the second tier from the 2024–2025 campaign.In a letter seen by Mozzart Sport and sent to club Chairmen and CEOs, teams that want to participate in the aforementioned FKF Leagues are required to submit evidence of the existence of youth teams within their entities as follows:”1. Teams applying to the FKF Premier League: at least one youth team within the age range of 15–21 years and at least one youth team within the age range of 10–14 years.2. Teams applying to the FKF National Super League: at least one youth team within the age range of 15–19 years.3. Youth Team Ages:Clubs are required to submit the provisional team lists of the players signed with their youth teams as registered on Kenya Connect by the final date of submitting their applications. Upon closure of the primary registration window, the final squad list must be emailed to technical@footballkenya.org, competitions@footballkenya.org, and copied to daniel.mwaura@footballkenya.org within 15 days of the registration deadline.Players registered to participate in the U21 Youth Leagues must be aged 20 or younger. Players registered for the U15 Youth Leagues must be aged 14 years or younger to be eligible.Any club found to have registered and/or fielded ineligible players in its youth teams shall, in addition to having the youth team sanctioned, be subject to disciplinary action under the Club Licensing Regulations.Football Kenya Federation tightens stance on National Super League Club Licensing2. Participation in FKF Leagues:Clubs must ensure that their respective youth teams are participating in an FKF League and must obtain a letter from the FKF confirming the registration of the youth team. Teams are advised to engage with their local Youth League Coordinators or contact the FKF Technical Department for any assistance with the registration of youth teams to an FKF League.3. Ownership of Youth Teams:Clubs are informed that all youth teams submitted as part of the club licensing applications must be fully owned and operated by the club applying for a license.Teams applying for licenses to the FKF Men’s Premier League, FKF National Super League, and FKF Women’s Premier League shall not be allowed to submit partnership agreements with external youth teams not fully operated by the license applicant. ##NAJAVA_MECA_8213801##
