Kenya Police FC goalkeepers’ coach Abdul Iddi Salim has described his side’s friendly game against the Vipers of Uganda as a valuable test ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup campaign in August.Police played Vipers on Saturday night in Entebbe, Uganda, losing the match 2-0. This was their first pre-season friendly since they commenced training a fortnight ago.##NAJAVA_MECA_8238575##Despite the defeat, the soft-spoken coach said the game was a good test for his team as they prepare to face Ethiopia’s Coffee FC in the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round. The first leg will be played in Nairobi on August 16, with the return leg set for Ethiopia a week later.“The friendly match was a good opportunity for us to gauge ourselves as we prepare for the CAF Confederation Cup match coming up in August,” he said.He believes that although their hosts were the better team, they had opportunities to change the scoreline but failed to capitalize on them. Nonetheless, he was impressed by the players’ performances.“It was a good game. Vipers dominated, but we also had our moments with a couple of chances that we did not manage to convert. It was a great friendly for us as it was our first international friendly and it was tough because we had just trained for one week. But it was good, and I am happy with how the players responded,” he added.Timothy Ouma features as substitute in Elfsborg lossRegarding their reception in Uganda, the former Harambee Stars goalkeepers’ coach stated that they were well-treated by their hosts.“I can say it was a great opportunity to be here to play against Vipers, and we received excellent hospitality during the last two to three days.
