Masinza eyeing full breakthrough in the new season

Enock Masinza’s first two seasons in the top flight with Kakamega Homeboyz have prepared him mentally for whatever may come in the future, or so the Kenya U20 international thinks. Roped in from Green Commandos two years ago and thrown into the fray right away, the speedy left-back recounts his eye-opening contests against seasoned players in the FKF Premier League while still a teenager. ‘’No one prepares you for that, you have to go in and experience it yourself,’’ he says of debuting in the top flight while just fresh from high school. I am glad the coaches trusted me with some games and they built me into the kind of player I am now. Raised in a footballing family, with his elder brother his teammate- Christopher Masinza, Enock plans on getting goals for himself too in the new season. He has done his part in setting up others to score and will be working to get goals too he says. ‘’My aim is to, of course, do better than I did last season. I have grown mentally, learnt a lot in the premier league and now I want to score goals too. In modern football, even full-backs get goals too. I want that,’’ says the youngster. Kakamega Homeboyz unveil new head coachHomeboyz recently had coaching staff changes with coach Patrick Odhiambo leaving for Kenya Commercial Bank FC. Regardless of the changes, Masinza stays focused, with his aim to one day play in Europe. ‘’Eventually, I see myself playing in Europe. I’m still young and have earned my place in the team. God-willing, I’ll pull good numbers in the first leg of the season and attract good offers,’’ he concludes.
