When Chelsea’s Nodi Madueke came out at Molineaux today, Wolves fans hated him already. The quick Englishman posted “Everything about this place is s**t“ on Instagram, the night before the game, with Wolverhampton location shared on a post. He quickly deleted it, but it was too late. Fans were in rage, but their hate towards Madueke only worsened, as he scored a second half hat-trick to give his new coach Enco Maresca a maiden win: Wolverhampton – Chelsea 2-5.In a game in which all Chelsea defensive flaws were exposed once again, it was Madueke with his quick pace and good finishing, but also Cole Palmer with his three assists and a goal which solved this game. In the end, reserve players Felix and Neto combined for the sixth goal and finally some joy for the Blues fans who looked like they were about to lose another game, until Madueke and Palmer stepped up.The first half ended with four goals but it should have been six easily. Both clubs scored two goals apiece and then missed two good chances. Wolves under coach Gary O’Neil were usually defensive aware, but today they allowed the first goal after only 100 seconds. Palmer’s corner kick bounced all the way to the second post where Jackson had an easy task: 1-0. Cunha nearly equalized after seven minutes, but his shot went flying just near the post, while his goal in the 16th minute was disallowed due to offside. Then it finally clicked 10 minutes later. Caicedo gave the ball away Wolves’ and Ait-Nouri picked up the ball, went inside the penalty area and assisted perfectly to Cunha.3 – Noni Madueke has now scored more Premier League goals in Wolverhampton (3) than he has at Stamford Bridge (2 in 18 games). Instagram. pic.twitter.com/VlEXxC6mNZ— OptaJoe (@OptaJoe) August 25, 2024 Former Atletico Madrid forward had another great opportunity to change the game completely, but his volley touched Colwill in the process and finished off the bar. And then two quick goals in the last minutes of the first half. Sanchez took a long shot from his goal to Jackson, who flicked it to Palmer, and Chelsea’s best player lobbed Sa for another lead. That was 45th minute, but in the 51st, Ait-Nouri (again) chipped the ball in and Mosquera cushioned is back across goal where Strand Larsen was unmarked and scored his debut goal in Wolves’ shirt. And then Madueke started his show in the second half. He got a bit of help from Wolves’ defender who changed the ball’s direction with the first goal, but the next two, with assists from Palmer were just quality from the England U21 forward. With more displays like this, and less stupid Instagram posts, he might have a bright future in Chelsea.Another Madueke blunder ahead of the Wolves gamePREMIER LEAGUE – MATCHDAY 2SaturdayBrighton – Man.Utd. 2-1 (1-0)/Welbeck 32, Pedro 90+5 – Diallo 60/Fulham – Leicester 2-1 (1-1)/Smith Rowe 18, Iwobi 70 – Faes 38/Tottenham – Everton 4-0 (2-0)/Bissouma 14, Son 25, 77, Romero 71/Crystal Palace – West Ham 0-2 (0-0)/Soucek 67, Bowen 72/Man.City – Ipswich 4-1 (3-1)/Haaland 12 pen, 15, 88, De Bruyne 14 – Szmodics 7/Southampton – Nott.Forest 0-1 (0-0)/Gibbs-White 70/Aston Villa – Arsenal 0-2 (0-0)/Trossard 67, Partey 77/Sunday Wolverhampton – Chelsea 2-6 (2-2)/Cunha 27, Larsen 45+6 – Jackson 2, Palmer 45, Madueke 49, 58, 63, Felix 80/Bournemouth – Newcastle 1-1 (1-0)/Tavernier 37 – Gordon 76/18:30: (1.25) Liverpool (6.50) Brentford (10.0)***odds are subject to change***
