Kenya Police Bullets FC are through to the CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA zonal qualifiers final after beating pre-game favourites Simba Queens 3-2 in a semifinal game played at the Abebe Bikila Stadium in Ethiopia.Heading into the game, the free-scoring Simba Queens were touted as favourites to progress to the final, but the Beldine Odemba-led Law Enforcers had other ideas, defeating them to qualify for the final. They are now just one step away from qualifying for the showpiece in their first attempt. Only the overall winner will secure a place in the continental games.##NAJAVA_MECA_8290453##Simba started the game on a high, visibly looking for an early breakthrough. Jentrix Shikangwa forced Annedy Kundu to make a big save, while Corazone Aquino’s shot narrowly went over the bar as they went all out. However, Police managed to keep them at bay and slowly grew into the game. They were particularly dangerous on the break, several times catching Simba napping on the transition.Against the run of play, Police went ahead through Lucy Kwekwe, who capitalized on a spill from Simba keeper Carolyne Rufa to score the opener. The lead lasted for just ten minutes before another spill, this time from Police keeper Kundu, set up Aquino for the equalizer.Harambee Starlets winger Elizabeth Wambui raced down the right and crossed the ball, which Kundu spilt, allowing Aquino an easy tap-in. The teams went into the break with the scores level.Eleven minutes into the second half, Aquino got her second of the game and fourth of the tournament. She controlled the ball well before beating Kundu with a sweet half-volley. The lead lasted for just five minutes before Diana Wacera levelled the scores with a stinging header from a free-kick delivery.Lessons learned from opening weekend of FKF Premier LeaguePolice had more chances to add to their tally, with Kwekwe, Rebecca Okwaro, and Lydia Akoth all coming close, but a lack of composure in the final third saw the chances go begging.Eight minutes from time, Okwaro put Police ahead after rounding the keeper and slotting into an empty net, sending the Police bench into delirium. Keeper Rufa picked up an injury in the process and had to be attended to for some time. The goal proved to be the winner for the Kenyan team.Bullets will now face the winner of the second semifinal between Kawempe Muslim and Commercial Bank of Ethiopia in the final. Should they win, they will become the second Kenyan team to qualify for the CAF Women’s Champions League after Vihiga Queens in 2021.STARS ABROAD: Joseph Okumu features against Marseille as Collins Sichenje clocks 90 in Serbia
