Amos Wanjala joins Spanish fifth tier side AC Torrellano

Fast-rising Kenyan defender Amos Wanjala has made a significant leap in his career after sealing move to Spanish fifth tier side Athletic Club Torrellano. Wanjala’s profile has been on the rise since last year when he moved to Spain alongside the duo of;Aldrine Kibet and Alvin Kasavuli. Several other Kenyan youngsters are attached to the academy. ##NAJAVA_MECA_8290140##The three joined Nastic Sports Academy following their impressive show with the St. Anthony’s Boys High School, Kitale football team that reclaimed the national title in August last year. The towering defender skippered the national U18 team to a second-place finish during a CECAFA tournament held in December last year in Kisumu. Wanjala, who predominantly plays as a central defender, seamlessly settled at Nastic and was at some point, tried in different positions so to prepare him for the next phase of his career. Change of roles for Amos Wanjala in SpainEarlier in the year, Nastic coaches told Mozzart Sport that, Wanjala had demonstrated his versatility by playing as a right back and a defensive midfielder. Wanjala was promoted to the Gimnastic Tarragona, the professional side of the academy, one of the oldest football establishments in Spain. Omala’s sudden return to Kenya from Lebanon explainedHis smooth transition, from school games to the Spanish football saw him and the U18 twam, elevated to the national U20 team in March this year. He however, missed the Four Nations tournament held in Malawi as he, opted to concentrate on settling in Spain and charting a path to professional football. Wanjala, made a comeback to the national team set up as he, was included in the COSAFA Cup held in July in South Africa where Kenya was represented by the U23 team. Okumu’s teammate named in Zimbabwe’s squad for AFCON qualifier against KenyaHe played, in all three group stage matches, partnering Gor Mahia man Sylvester Owino, at the heart of the defence. His impressive performances, in South Africa left many, convinced that he had come of age and was ripe for more competitive football. AC Torrellano was established in 2012 and stages their matches at the Campo Municipal Isabel Stadium.
