Tusker FC head coach Charles Okere is not entirely satisfied despite winning his first game of the season. Okere noted that there is still work to be done by his side. The former Harambee Starlets head coach was in the dugout for the first time as the head coach of an FKF Premier League club against Sofapaka FC on the opening day of the season a fortnight ago, marking it with a 1-0 win against his predecessor, Robert Matano, who is now in charge of Batoto ba Mungu.##NAJAVA_MECA_8318183##Given his pursuit of excellence, Okere aims to build a cohesive team where both the veteran players and the new additions are on the same page.“There are definitely many areas to improve after playing just one match. Our priority is to enhance team cohesion since we have new players who need to adapt quickly,” said Okere. There may not be a better time in the season to build this cohesion than now, during the league’s three-week break. The 42-year-old Mathare Youth Sports Association (MYSA) graduate is using the break to prepare his team for the challenges and complexities that will arise throughout the season.“We are continuing with our preparations as per the comprehensive pre-season plan and in-season building blocks. The most important thing for us is to psychologically prepare the whole team, both on and off the field,” he added.Tusker will be looking to dislodge Gor Mahia from the FKF Premier League throne this season, having failed to do so in the last two seasons.Since 2010, when Ulinzi Stars won the league, Gor Mahia and Tusker have been the only league winners. Gor Mahia have claimed the title nine times, while Tusker have won it five times during that period. The Brewers have a date with Kariobangi Sharks on Saturday, September 14, when the league resumes.’We can only dream of such stadiums in Kenya’ – Harambee Stars head coach in Uganda
