CAF president impressed with progress made in upgrading Kenyan sporting facilities

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Dr. Patrice Motsepe is impressed with the steps the Kenyan government is making to have its facilities ready for the 2025 CHAN Championships and the 2027 AFCON finals.Motsepe toured Kasarani, Nyayo, and the Talanta facilities, all located in Nairobi, on Sunday to ascertain their progress made ahead of the two tournaments that Kenya will jointly host alongside; Uganda and Tanzania.Given the status of the facilities in Uganda and Tanzania, there were fears that Motsepe, and the CAF entourage, would take issue with how Kenya has been dragging her feet in having at least an approved facility.##NAJAVA_MECA_8333873##Both Uganda and Tanzania have at least two approved facilities which require minimal upgrading for the two tournaments.However, the CAF supremo reserved praises for the government and the efforts being made to catch up with the neighbouring countries.“I visited three stadiums on Sunday and I was impressed with the commitment and the progress I saw. The Kenyan government is doing a good job in renovating and upgrading Kasarani,” he said.Motsepe reveals dates, qualifying schedule of special CHAN involving Kenya, Uganda & TanzaniaThe former Mamelodi Sundowns chairman waxed lyrical on the status of Talanta Stadium which, unlike Nyayo and Kasarani, is being constructed from scratch.The structural design and the progress made, from the time it was commissioned, earned it a seal of approval from Motsepe, who is expected to return to Nairobi in December for more inspection.“It will be a world-class stadium.
