CS Murkomen calls for private sector investment in Sports as he visits Kirigiti Stadium

Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports, Kipchumba Murkomen, has urged the private sector to invest in sports and sporting facilities in the country.Murkomen was speaking during an inspection tour of Kirigiti International Stadium to assess progress and work towards completing the four-year construction project.##NAJAVA_MECA_8350713##The former Elgeyo Marakwet Senator emphasized the need for sports facilities to be self-sustainable, stating that private sector involvement is key to achieving this goal.“Kirigiti has spaces that can be monetized, and I invite the private sector to join us in investing in our sports facilities across the country,” he said.The CS, accompanied by area MP Machua Waithaka and Kiambu County CEC for Sports, Ali Korar, expressed satisfaction with the stadium’s progress and highlighted key areas for focus in the final phase of construction.“I’m impressed by the work done so far, and we are now focused on finalizing key areas, including seating installations, setting up technology infrastructure, and completing the playing field,” Murkomen added.Kirigiti Stadium holds historical significance as the last venue where Kenya’s founding father, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, addressed a rally before his detention.Murkomen emphasized continuing the liberation narrative of the stadium, this time in an economic sense, aiming to uplift youth who will benefit from its use.“Kirigiti Stadium is an important national monument.
