Kompany’s Bavarians strike fear into bones! After a Champions League lesson to the Croatian champion, Werder got one, too. Bayern were slightly more merciful this time, beating the Bremen side “only” 5-0. The former Premier League duo of Harry Kane and Michael Olise completely dominated the match with three goals and four assists combined! In the end, the former Crystal Palace winger netted twice, Kane once, while Serge Gnabry and Jamal Musiala were the remaining scorers.Kompany: My father came as a refugee to Belgium – why should I not believe in myself!? Kane: We wanted to score 11 goals! After the “monstrous” 9-2 triumph over Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League, everyone was hoping for more of the same from Bayern in the Bundesliga against Werder. Only, the club from Bremen was a much more dangerous opponent, which even won the last clash with the Bavarians in Munich 1-0. Still, Vincent Kompany took this game seriously, sending Harry Kane, Jamal Musiala, and Michael Olise on the pitch from the first minute. Moreover, the Belgian made only three changes in the starting 11 compared to the UCL match: Konrad Laimer replaced Raphael Guerreiro, Kingsley Coman took Serge Gnabry’s place, and Sven Ulreich was between the posts instead of the injured captain Manuel Neuer. The only notable moment in the first 20 minutes was Kane’s free-kick attempt, which flew over the crossbar since the Bavarians couldn’t crown their domination and the possession of 73% with an opener. However, Kompany’s crew broke the deadlock 23 minutes into the game, using a massive mistake in Werder’s defence. Alphonso Davies’ pressing made an impact, the ball deflected to Kane, who found Olise in the middle of the box, and the former Crystal Palace winger netted his second Bundesliga goal and his fourth in the last three games – 1-0!Nine minutes later, it was 2-0! This time, Olise was the most deserving of the goal as well, sending a perfect pass inside to Musiala after a terrific solo effort, and the young German easily put it behind Michael Zetterer’s back. Bayern awaited the break with a comfortable and totally deserved two-goal lead. Looking at the stats and the Munich side’s 76% of possession and ten attempts, the advantage could have even been higher.Werder boss Ole Werner had to react during the break, making a double sub and replacing the attacking duo of Marvin Ducksch and Marco Grull with Keke Topp and Derrick Kohn. Kompany responded in the 57th minute by giving a chance to Guerreiro and Gnabry for Laimer and Coman. Seconds later, Kane made it 3-0 after sending the ball home from inside the area, following a timely assist by Olise! After only three minutes, the 22-year-old used a deflection and confusion in Werder’s box to net his second goal of the game for 4-0!It did not take much to Gnabry to find the back of the net himself! Only nine minutes following his entrance, he crowned a hasty solo effort from the right flank with a precise shot into the left bottom corner of Zetterer’s goal – 5-0! By the end of the game, Kane, Olise, and Aleksandar Pavlovic all left the pitch for Thomas Muller, Leroy Sane, and Joao Palhinha. The Bavarians ultimately dropped the rhythm satisfied with another convincing win that keeps them in the leading position in Bundesliga with the maximum number of points and the 16-3 goal difference.
