Gor Mahia duo indefinitely suspended, set to face disciplinary committee

The Gor Mahia duo of Rooney Onyango and Kevin Juma have been suspended from training and are scheduled to appear before the club’s disciplinary committee on Monday 30 September to address charges of misconduct. The incident stems from an altercation during the team’s recent trip to Cairo, Egypt, where they were preparing for their CAF Champions League qualifier against defending champions Al Ahly.##NAJAVA_MECA_8361306##Onyango reported for training on Wednesday, gearing up for Saturday’s clash against Mathare United, but was dismissed by head coach Leonardo Neiva. The fallout from his misconduct in Egypt has extended into the new week, leading to his suspension from the team by the management until the matter is fully resolved.“He’s been served with a letter instructing him to stay away from the team until his case is settled. He won’t train or play until he faces the disciplinary body and the issue is fully addressed,” said CEO Raymond Oruo in an interview with Mozzart Sport.“He is a talented and crucial player for us, so it’s disappointing to be involved in such an issue. But we have to uphold discipline within the team. We will manage it at the management level, and I am confident a solution will be reached,” Oruo added.Ulinzi Stars coach reveals why Shabana FC will perform well this seasonThe situation began in Egypt when Onyango reportedly refused to honour summons from the coach, which shocked his teammates and technical staff. This act was reportedly in protest of the coach’s decision to play him as a winger instead of his usual right-back position during the game against Al Ahly.Onyango’s refusal to meet with the coach for instructions created a standoff and the coach decided to drop him from the team altogether.“There must be order within the team. The coach leads the team, and even if you disagree with his decisions, you should at least show up and engage in a discussion. Refusing to honour a coach’s call sends the wrong message and can lead to chaos within the squad,” Oruo further explained.##NAJAVA_MECA_8361361##This is not the first time Onyango and coach Neiva have clashed. The pair reportedly had issues during the CECAFA Club Championship in Tanzania in July, resulting in Onyango being dropped for one of the matches.“Since this is a recurring issue, we need to resolve it once and for all. If we allow this to continue, it may set a bad precedent for other players. Onyango will face the committee, and until then, he won’t train or play until the matter is resolved,” Oruo said.Omondi opens up on Sofapaka experience as he makes FKFPL debutOruo also expressed regret that Onyango might have missed a significant career opportunity by not participating in the high-profile match against Al Ahly.“Football is unpredictable. Even if the team underperforms, a player can still shine and attract interest. Big matches like these draw attention from scouts globally, and this could’ve been a major opportunity for Onyango. He’s a national team player and a quality defender, and this could’ve been his moment to stand out,” Oruo remarked. In addition to Onyango, midfielder Kevin Juma has also been suspended for absenteeism.Junior Starlets overpower Valencia in pre-World Cup friendly clash
