Jannik Sinner ‘confident’ he will avoid doping ban despite Wada appeal – video

Jannik Sinner spoke to the press before the Shanghai Masters about the ongoing World Anti-Doping Agency [Wada] appeal against him. Wada have appealed against the ruling, made by the International Tennis Integrity Agency, that Sinner bore ‘no fault or negligence’ for two positive tests in March. The Italian twice tested for positive for clostebol, a banned anabolic steroid, which he claims was caused by contamination from a cream applied to a cut.

The world No 1 said he was ‘surprised’ by Wada’s decision but added he would ‘collaborate, like I did before’. Sinner added he was ‘very confident’ of a positive outcome, and he would be ‘very surprised if it was otherwise’. He faces Japan’s Taro Daniel in the first round on Saturday.
