Dortmund could be without seven players against St. Pauli

The season has not started well for Borussia Dortmund. New coach, some great new players, but it’s not ’clicking’ at the moment. BVB already has two defeats and one draw at the beginning of the season, and they are terrible in away games. One point from three away games speaks volumes. Only Bochum and Augsburg are worse away from home. And even at home things are not so good. For example, they won 3-2 at home against Bochum, who is relegation candidate, but they were losing 2-0 after only 20 minutes. And problems continued to rise ahead of today’s game against St. Pauli. How about some more pace? @EASPORTSFC pic.twitter.com/OE9lD5Exhw— Borussia Dortmund (@BlackYellow) October 17, 2024 Coach Nuri Sahin couldn’t wait for Tuesday. That was the last day for some of his players and their international duties and he was sweating over any potential injuries.”We have a group where the boys send a quick message after the game to say how long they played, in which position and whether they are healthy. The last news came in on Tuesday, then I could breathe a sigh of relief. I’m glad that no one was injured” said Sahin. The reason for his happiness is that he already has up to seven injured players and he didn’t need another one. To make things worse, all those injured/ill players are wingers/full backs: Karim Adeyemi, Giovanni Reyna and Julien Duranville are still out, Yan Couto is joining the team because of a minor muscle injury. Maximilian Beier is already feeling better after leaving the U21s due to illness, as is Julian Ryerson (flu), and for Niklas Süle (gastrointestinal infection) it will be a race against time.’As fake as his teeth’: Klopp blasted over Red Bull roleMaybe some of them will start of play a certain minutes, but potentially they could all be out of the game so Sahin could be too thin on the left back, where he has only Ramy Bensebaini and the young Almugera Kabar. In a back four, Emre Can could fill in as a centre back, as Sahin has only Nico Schlotterbeck and Waldemar Anton, and Sule is not certain. As for the forwards position, Jamie Gittens and Donyell Malen are likely to start from the wings in case nobody else is 100% fit. Alternatively, Julian Brandt or Sabitzer could be available to play on the wings. The only one to certainly start is in-form Serhou Guirassy.BUNDESLIGA – MATCHDAY 7Friday21:30: (1.35) Dortmund (5.60) St.Pauli (9.50)Saturday16:30: (1.72) Freiburg (3.60) Augsburg (5.20)16:30: (1.68) Hoffenheim (4.00) Bochum (4.90)16:30: (1.50) Leverkusen (4.40) Eintr.Frankfurt (6.50)16:30: (1.90) M’ gladbach (3.50) Heidenheim (4.10)16:30: (4.10) Mainz (3.50) RB Leipzig (1.90)19:30: (1.37) Bayern (5.60) Stuttgart (8.50)Sunday16:30: (3.40) Holstein Kiel (3.40) Union Berlin (2.15)18:30: (2.15) Wolfsburg (3.45) Werder (3.35)***odds are subject to change***
