It is second nature to assume that Kenya Under-18 striker Duncan Omala considers his elder brother Benson Omala as a role model or that his achievements serve as a source of motivation to him. Benson has made a name for himself since breaking into the Football Kenya Federation Premier League scene while he was still a student at Kisumu Day Secondary School.Despite his young age, he has won individual accolades, the league title twice with Gor Mahia, excelled with Harambee Stars, the junior national teams, and tasted football outside the continent. ##NAJAVA_MECA_8445241##His impressive profile certainly motivates his peers, both young and senior players to put in extra effort; but this does not apply to his sibling, who insists that he is his own man. Duncan, who is stationed at National Super League (NSL) side Nairobi United, says he wants to chart his own career path different from that of his elder brother, who moved to Lebanon in August. The youngster admitted that the comparisons between him and his brother had forced him to keep off social media in the interest of maintaining his focus and deflecting pressure. The 18-year-old says he does not wish to be viewed as the kind of player who lives in the shadow of his famous brother but be judged based on his abilities. Enosh Ochieng explains reason behind his barren run at Ulinzi”I want my achievements to be different from his. He has made his name and career and I am working hard to build mine. The rest we meet and discuss with him in the house (sic). I try as much as I can to avoid the comparisons between us. It keeps me off social media most of the time,” he told Mozzart Sport. In May, Duncan had a brief stint with Mali’s ABM Football Academy, a move that was meant to elevate him to the next phase of his career, preferably to Europe.Francis Barasa backs Benson Omala as ideal replacement for OlungaHe, however, did not make the cut and had to return home but he is far from giving up on his huge career goals.”I had a short contract in Mali and declined to renew since it was an academy. I am working to get better opportunities, which I do not want to discuss right now. But I am sure it is just a matter of time before I make a big move,” he added.
