Ismael Dunga opens up on challenges faced while with Greek and Albanian clubs

RANS Nusantara striker Ismael Salim Dunga has opened up on the challenges that he faced while turning out for Greek side Archanaikos and KF Tirana in Albania.Dunga’s first destination outside Kenyan borders was at Archanaikos in 2016 where he spent slightly under a year and had three goals to his name.##NAJAVA_MECA_8445354##In an interview with Mozzart Sport, he shared his experience with the club which he says taught him a lot, especially on how he should discuss his personal terms.“My first time in Greece was not easy. I was there with Paul Were. The club was semi-professional, sometimes we did not train daily and I had under-negotiated my terms. The challenges there though helped me to grow and learn how to negotiate contracts,” he said.Gor Mahia fans force captain to apologise after first defeat of season [VIDEO]After leaving the Greek side in 2017 the former Congo United striker turned out for four other clubs before joining Albanian club KF Tirana two years later.Tirana did not pay the Kenya international’s dues as agreed and after failing to come to an agreement on how to solve the matter, he headed to FIFA to seek justice.##NAJAVA_MECA_8445398##“I personally had issues in Albania with FK Tirana but the beauty is that nowadays we know we can take clubs to FIFA. I did so and won the case and. they had to pay me,” he stated.It is from these experiences that the former Tusker FC player saw it wise to offer words of advice to Kenyan footballers trying to make moves abroad.Former Gor Mahia captain signs for Division Two club“On these moves abroad, you have to be keen. Some teams do not make sense moving to. Agents should take you to a serious club,” said Dunga.Additionally, he advised players to do a background check on the clubs they are to join, noting that they need to have financial benefit from the game while it is still possible.##NAJAVA_MECA_8445372##“Do not accept to go to a club that has issues in paying salaries, you can do your research on that,” he said.Dunga is on his 11th club since leaving the Kenyan league in 2016 with defunct Nakumatt FC his last station.
