Former Kenyan international McDonald Mariga has thanked the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) and Women’s Premier League (WPL) sides that attended the consultative meeting held on Monday 25 November at a Nairobi hotel ahead of the December 7 elections.Mariga, who is Hussein Mohamed’s running mate, is seeking to unseat Doris Petra and Nick Mwendwa. Petra is running for president, while Mwendwa, who has served as president for the last eight years, is her running mate. The delegates were drawn from AFC Leopards, Gor Mahia, Posta Rangers, Kenya Police FC, KCB FC, Mathare United, Tusker FC, Murang’a Seal, Ulinzi Starlets, Kenya Police Bullets, and others.This meeting follows the endorsement of Petra by 53 delegates, which places her in a strong position ahead of the elections. A total of 92 delegates will participate in the elections, with a 50%+1 vote required for a candidate to be declared the winner.
