Ahead of the next week‘s Champions League week, both Bundesliga champion Bayer Leverkusen and current league leader Bayern Munich had easy tasks – they played at home against relegation strugglers St. Pauli and Heidenheim. That was on paper, but in reality, both clubs had their problems – a lack of classic strikers. Leverkusen and Munich had their fitness issues with their forwards but both clubs passed their tests with flying colours: Bayern Munich – Heidenheim 4-2, Leverkusen – St. Pauli 2-1.⚽️GOAL🇩🇪 | Bayern München 2-1 Heidenheim | MusialaMusiala on stage!pic.twitter.com/mZprw4zSbf— Goals Xtra (@GoalsXtra) December 7, 2024 🚨🚨| GOAL: JAMAL MUSIALA WITH A BRACE!!Bayern 4-2 Heidenheim pic.twitter.com/ujl2z5m0vf— CentreGoals. (@centregoals) December 7, 2024 The Bavarians had a tougher task, since Heidenheim is not such a weak team, but is faced with a result crisis at the moment, since they have a limited team and play in Europe this season as well, so they are a bit stretched. However, Bayern faced two problems: the lack of first-team goalkeeper (Manuer Neuer had rib problems) and best striker (Harry Kane has been involved in 19 of Bayern’s 37 Bundesliga goals). Since they don‘t have proper ‘number 9‘ to cover for his absence, experienced Thomas Muller had to step in, but coach Vincent Kompany decided to substitute him already in the 51st minute. The home team already led 1-0 due to Upamecano‘s goal, but conceded a minute after Muller‘s exit. However, his substitute was Jamal Musiala and he needed only four minutes to give Bayern another lead, before Goretzka scored the third. It should have been enough for a comfortable win, but Heidenhem never give up and scored their second goal after just one minute, and provided a nerve wracking end of the game for the home fans. Musiala then scored in injury time to end the game with a brace and the final 4-2.Brilliant goal by Florian Wirtz 🔥🔥 pic.twitter.com/19UtBnNOHp— Poster Boy⚽️🇧🇷 (@thecoolestkvd) December 7, 2024 Leverkusen gave their home crowd one pale performance but still managed a 2-0 win over St. Pauli. Unlike Bayern, who don‘t have a cover for Kane, the current Bundesliga champion have the Czech striker Patrick Schick who is a cover for Victor Boniface, who is injured. But Schick got injured last week as well, so coach Xabi Alonso started the game with Florian Wirtz and Nathan Tella (a winger) up front. The German international didn‘t have a problem with his new role and scored after only six minutes. The second goal was a work of soon to be departed defender Jonathan Tah and while St. Pauli tried to press the home team, but managed only one goal near the end of the game.BUNDESLIGA – MATCHDAY 13Friday Stuttgart – Union Berlin 3-2 (0-1)/Woltemade 51, 59, Karazor 69 – Doekhi 37, Skov 48/Saturday Bayern – Heidenheim 4-2 (1-0)/Upamecano 18, Musiala 56, 90+1, Goretzka 84 – Honsak 50, Dorcsh 85/Bochum -Werder 0-1 (0-0)/Stage 56/Eintr.Frankfurt – Augsburg 2-2 (0-0)/Etikite 55,Uzun 74 – Tietz 60, Essende 71//Holstein Kiel – RB Leipzig 0-2 (0-1)/Šeško 27, Silva 69(p)/Leverkusen – St.Pauli 2-1 (2-0)/Wirtz 6, Tah 20 – Guilavogui 84/20.30: (3.35) M’ gladbach (3.70) Dortmund (2.20)Sunday 17.30: (2.15) Wolfsburg (3.45) Mainz (3.35)19.30: (2.75) Hoffenheim (3.55) Freiburg (2.60)***odds are subject to change***
