No more undefeated teams in Bundesliga, no more untouchables. The mighty Bayern Munich is finally defeated today. Their coach Vincent Kompany was only the third coach in history not to have lost any of his first 13 Bundesliga games and only Pep Guardiola (28 games) and Karlheinz Feldkamp (14 games) were better and his streak ended tonight in Mainz. The giant-killer club managed to defeat the Bavarians fourth time in their last five Bundesliga matches at their stadium, thanks to a Jae-sung Lee brace. Surely, it was a big loss for Bayern not to have their star player and first striker Harry Kane in this match, but the sporting sector just neglected that fact during the last transfer window and didn’t by him a replacement. So, when he went down, Thomas Muller, not a classic striker was forced to play all the time and it’s not the same.⚽️ GOAL 🇩🇪 | Mainz 1-0 Bayern München | Jae-sung Leepic.twitter.com/3GJr3KHOE7— Goals Xtra (@GoalsXtra) December 14, 2024 On the other side, Mainz’s best striker Jonathan Burkardt (the only Bundesliga player to have scored on each of the last four matchdays) got injured after only 15 minutes, so it has to be said that the hosts were also hendicaped as well as Bayern. But Jae-sung Lee stepped up in his absence and scored a brace for a fantastic 2-1 win over the current Bundesliga leaders. The hosts were firmly focused on Olise and Musiala, the only two young, fresh and quick forwards capable of scoring and totally shut them down. There were no empty spaces on the pitch for the Bayern players, no empty lanes for Sane and Olise to run to, everything was shut so Bayern had to wait 85 minutes to make a first shot on target! It was Leroy Sane’s shot after a rebound which gave Bayern a bit of hope for an equalizer, but the game still ended with a Mainz win.🚨🇩🇪 GOAL | Mainz 2-0 Bayern Munich | Jae-Sung LeeJAE-SUNG LEE DOUBLES THE LEAD FOR MAINZ!pic.twitter.com/3PJbpjSLsR— Tekkers Foot (@tekkersfoot) December 14, 2024 At the beginning of the match, it looked like it’s gonna be Bayern dominance from the beginning, as after only seven minutes Olise hit the post. But remarkable, it was the only serious shot the Bavarians had all match! Sane scored a goal in the 87th minute, which only shows how harmless they looked all night long. Lee was lucky, as his first goal was a deflection after Sieb’s shot but Mainz fans didn’t mind. Bayern tried to turn on the heat in the second half but failed and Lee was there again to raise the difference to two goals in the 61st minute. As part of a lovely move, Sieb crossed into Lee, who turned and shoot. His effort then took a deflection off Kimmich and went into the back of the net. Sane scored a consolation goal similar to Lee’s first in the 87th minute, but it would be injustice if the Bavarians took even one point from Mainz today. 🚨🚨| 🇩🇪 GOAL | Mainz 2-1 Bayern Munich | Leroy Sane📌Follow my account @moraahmed61199👈to support me pleasepic.twitter.com/KSBxqlYq8W— moraahmed (@moraahmed61199) December 14, 2024 BUNDESLIGA – MATCHDAY 13FridayFreiburg – Wolfsburg 3-2 (1-0)/Kubler 42, 51, Gregoritsch 61 – Wind 75, Svanberg 83/SaturdayAugsburg – Leverkusen 0-2 (0-2)/Terrier 14, Wirtz 40/M’gladbach – Holstein Kiel 4-1 (3-1)/Kleindienst 1, Hack 26, Plea 43, 79 – Gigovic 30/Union Berlin – Bochum 1-1 (1-1)/Hollerbach 33 – Sissoko 23/Mainz – Bayern Munich 2-1 (1-0)/Lee 41, 60 – Sane 87/20:30: (2.70) St.Pauli (3.40) Werder (2.75)Sunday17:30: (4.40) Heidenheim (3.60) Stuttgart (1.83)19:30: (1.47) Dortmund (4.60) Hoffenheim (6.50)21:30: (2.20) RB Leipzig (3.60) Eintr.Frankfurt (3.40)***odds are subject to change***
