City Stars Coach Muyoti unveils transfer strategy after disappointing first half of the season

Nairobi City Stars head coach, Nicholas Muyoti, has outlined his team’s transfer strategy for the upcoming mid-season January window following a lacklustre first half of the season.Simba Wa Nairobi had one of the quietest off-season transfer windows, adding only four new players to the squad ahead of the current campaign.Muyoti initially hoped that this approach would give his team an advantage, assuming their previous season’s strong form would carry over without the need for extensive player integration. However, the results have been far from what he expected.##NAJAVA_MECA_8603133##“I am very, very disappointed. We signed the fewest players, aiming for continuity, but we’ve lacked depth,” Muyoti said in an interview with Mozzart Sport.Currently sitting in 13th place on the log with 16 points—just two points above the relegation zone—City Stars have struggled to find consistency. This poor form has now led Muyoti to reassess his squad and turn to the transfer market for reinforcements.”I not only have to go back to the drawing board but also to the transfer market to find the right additions to push us forward. I expected more consistency from my players, but unfortunately, we haven’t seen that,” he explained.Nicholas Muyoti pinpoints reason for Nairobi City Stars’ slow startMuyoti also highlighted the impact of losing key player Samwel Kapen, who joined 21-time champion Gor Mahia.”Our performance has suffered since Kapen left. We lost his goals and assists, and we’ve yet to find someone who can fill that gap,” he added.Looking ahead to the January transfer window, Muyoti revealed that his primary focus will be strengthening the defence and midfield.”I need a defence that can stop us from conceding and a midfield that can provide quality service to my strikers. If I can get that, we’ll be in a good position,” he said.Veteran goalkeeper Boban Mboya shares insights on his return to FKF Premier LeagueNairobi City Stars will return to action on Saturday, January 4, 2025, with a challenging encounter against league leaders KCB.Arnold Origi reflects on Harambee Stars return, coaching journey, and building future champions
