“CHAN is coming to Kenya”: Mvurya officially confirms

It is now official that the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) will be coming to Kenya alongside other hosting nations Uganda and Tanzania.The announcement was made by newly appointed Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports Sports Salim Mvurya in what was the first press briefing ahead of a busy tournament schedule.##NAJAVA_MECA_8626876##Mvurya, who was accompanied by Permanent Secretary Peter Tum, Football Kenya Federation boss Hussein Mohammed and CHAN Local Organizing Committee chair Nicholas Musonye, said that after months of preparations, Kenya was ready to host the 19-team tournament.”I want to make an announcement to all Kenyans that the country is ready and will host CHAN,” Mvurya told the press at KICC, the venue for the tournament draw on Wednesday 15 January.CHAN 2024 Draw to be staged in Nairobi”The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has alot of confidence in us and that’s why in a fews days time we have the honor of hosting the draw,” the CS added.Seeding and pooling of all countries involved will be finalised on the day, with Mvurya mentioning that further information on what venues host particular games would be provided then.”As at this moment, all we can confirm is that our two stadiums – Nyayo and Kasarani – will be ready to host the games,” he said.Earlier in the day, the CS, PS, and LOC members had taken a tour to the match venues, which are admittedly not a hundred percent ready.”At Nyayo we still need to get the floodlights up,” Mvurya said. “The same case to Kasarani, where we need to install 57 lights.”Kasarani, Nyayo Stadia progress 24 days to hosting of CHAN [PHOTOS]All work though is projected to be completed by Friday 17 December.
