Ulinzi Stars head coach Danstun Nyaudo has revealed why he fielded captain Boniface Muchiri just three hours after his return from international duty with the Harambee Stars.Muchiri had been part of the Harambee Stars squad competing in the Mapinduzi Cup in Tanzania, where they were eliminated by eventual winners Zanzibar on Friday 10 January 2025.##NAJAVA_MECA_8633275##The Kenyan national team jetted back to the country at around 11:30 am, and as they checked out, Muchiri was immediately called up for club duty. He joined the Ulinzi Stars squad for their match against Mara Sugar, which kicked off at 1 pm.The former Tusker FC player came on at the start of the second half, replacing Brian Kafero. Muchiri made an impact, delivering a free kick that Staphod Odhiambo headed home in the 77th minute. Nyaudo praised Muchiri’s contribution and explained the circumstances leading to his inclusion.”When you have such an important player, you always know you can rely on him,” Nyaudo said. “I spoke to him while he was in Zanzibar, just before the game, and asked if he felt ready to play.
