The end for Ange? Spurs lose to sorry Leicester

Leicester City fans were dreaming when Ruud van Nistelrooy came to lead the club and recorded two wins in a row. But since December 8th, the Foxes didn‘t win a single point and were on a seven-game losing slump. A fantastic opportunity for the wounded Spurs to finally defeat somebody and take the heat off the players, the coach and the chariman Daniel Levy. But Tottenham are not much better than Leicester. Their last win came also in December, against Southampton and they haven‘t won in the Premier League since, with only one draw in six games. And today they allowed a team who scored only two goals in the last seven games to score two goals in four minutes against them and beat them at the Tottenham Stadium: Spurs – Leicester 1-2.Since the start of December… Only Southampton (9) have lost more PL games than Tottenham (8). Only Southampton (1) have picked up fewer PL points than Tottenham (5). Only Southampton (28) have conceded more PL goals than Tottenham (24). And the Saints were the only side… pic.twitter.com/T29Ywfub4X— Squawka (@Squawka) January 26, 2025 Maybe this was the last match for coach Ange Postecoglou, who has problems with injuries (14 players not available), but surely this bad display and so many defeats (13 so far) is not only up to the injuries. Daniel Levy insisted he has the support from the board, but to be up 1-0 against a relegation fighting side and then lose the game 2-1 is just too much. Today, only captain Son and Pedro Porro were up for task and nobody else. By playing James Maddison almost all 90 minutes against Hoffenheim in Europe League, Ange risked and the player couldn‘t compete today, which took away all creativity from the home side.⚽️ GOAL: Bilal El Khannouss🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Tottenham 1-2 Leicesterpic.twitter.com/xuPB6FTWf2— Goals Xtra (@GoalsXtra) January 26, 2025 🚨🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 GOAL | Tottenham 1-1 Leicester | Jamie VardyJAMIE VARDY EQUALIZES STRAIGHT AFTER HALFTIME!pic.twitter.com/dRAeOU1kL4— Tekkers Foot (@tekkersfoot) January 26, 2025 The first half looked really good for Spurs. They had a couple of chances as they started to attack from the first minute, but Leicester showed in a couple of occasions that they won‘t just defend. Richarlison had his first chance in the sixth minute already but keeper Stolarczyk saved it. However the Brazilian foward was successful less than 30 minutes later, when Pedro Porro‘s fantastic cross was met by his head – an easy lead. The Spanish defender was by far the best player today as he not only assisted for the goal, but also had two excellent chances. One was saved by Stolarczyk in the first half, while his thunderbolt in the second half hit the bar. Almost every important piece of action for Spurs had Porro in the leading role. Next to him was captain Son, who was also denied by Leicester keeper and also hit the bar.But at the start of the second half, a disaster struck in form of a two four minutes goals which turned the game completely. A bad defensive decision for Spurs have led to an equalizer which was completed by James Vardy (who else) why just four minutes later, El Khannouss stunned the Tottenham stadium with a winner. The home team left too much space for him and the Leicester man whipped a fine finish into the bottom corner. Just after the goal, the momentum was on Leicester side, but eventually, Spurs took over and even thou they had 40 minutes to at least equalize, nothing happened, apart from two good chances by Kulusevski and Porro.PREMIER LEAGUE – MATCHDAY 23Saturday Bournemouth – Nott.Forest 5-0 (1-0)/Kluivert 9, Outtara 55,61,87, Semenyo 90+1/Brighton – Everton 0-1 (0-1)/Ndiaye 42 pen/Liverpool – Ipswich 4-1 (3-0)/Szoboszlai 11, Salah 35, Gakpo 44, 66 – Greaves 90/Southampton – Newcastle 1-3 (1-2)/Bednarek 10 – Isak 26 pen, 30, Tonali 51/Wolverhampton – Arsenal 0-1 (0-0)/Calafiori 74/Manchester City – Chelsea 3-1 (1-1)/Gvardiol 42, Haaland 68, Foden 87 – Madueke 3/Sunday Crystal Palace – Brentford 1-2 (0-0)/Esse 85 – Mbeumo 66 pen, Schade 80/Tottenham – Leicester City 1-2 (1-0)/Richarlison 33 – Vardy 46, Khannouss 49/19.30: (1.58) Aston Villa (4.20) West Ham (6.50)22.00: (2.45) Fulham (3.50) Man.Utd.
