At Emirates or not? Saliba reveals plans for his future

William Saliba claims he wants to extend his stay at Emirates and win trophies at Arsenal. The 23-year-old believes that leaving before would see the fans’ forget’ about him.The centre-back’s current contract expires in 2027, and Real Madrid have been linked as potential suitors. However, for some reason, Arsenal’s talks with Saliba about a possible long-term renewal have still not begun.”Not yet, because there are some years (left), so there is no rush at the minute,” Saliba said at a press conference before Arsenal’s Champions League last-16 second leg against PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday:”I’m happy here, that’s it. I want to win big things with Arsenal. If you leave this club without winning anything the fans will forget about you. I want to win big things here.”Centre-back Saliba as a new Gunners’ striker!?Saliba has made 121 appearances for the club and has created a strong partnership with Gabriel.Arsenal have the best defensive record in both the Premier League and Champions League, but Saliba believes there’s space for improvement.”I want to be one day the best defender in the world. I know I have to work a lot and to win trophies as well, but that’s my dream,” he added. “I think I am not so far, but I am not the best at the moment because, for me, this season I have not been so good. I have to review my season, I have to work on my game. But this season, I have not been so good. With or without you – it’s incomparable”I have to watch, especially my partner, Gabriel, who has been so, so good this season. There are a few (defenders better than me) but of course, I have to focus on myself and work more.”UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE – ROUND OF 16Second legTuesday20.45: (1.40) Barcelona (5.30) Benfica (8.00)23.00: (1.35) Inter Milan (4.90) Feyenoord (9.50)23.00: (3.05) Bayer Leverkusen (3.45) Bayern Munich (2.30)23.00: (2.30) Liverpool (3.60) PSG (3.20)Wednesday20.45: (2.85) Lille (3.35) Dortmund (2.65)23.00: (1.42) Arsenal (4.80) PSV (9.00)23.00: (1.62) Aston Villa (3.90) Club Brugge (5.60)23.00: (2.60) Atl.
