Tiger Woods was injured in a Los Angeles-area car crash and needed to be pulled from his vehicle by the Jaws of Life on Tuesday morning.
The Los Angeles County Sheriffs’ office released a statement that Woods was injured in a crash in Ranchos Palos Verdes on Hawthorne Boulevard. Woods, 45, was at Riviera Country Club over the weekend as host of the Genesis Invitational, but was out of the field due to a recent back surgery.
The single-car rollover crash took place at just after 7 a.m. PT, and Woods’ vehicle sustained major damage, according to the report.
After being pulled from the vehicle by the Jaws of Life, Woods was taken to a local hospital.
His agent, Mark Steinberg, sent out a statement:
“Tiger Woods was in a single-car accident this morning in California where he suffered multiple leg injuries. He is currently in surgery and we thank you for your privacy and support.”
Woods has had a myriad of health concerns in recent years, including four surgeries on his left knee, microdiscectomy surgery on his back in March 2014, then two similar procedures in the fall of 2015. In April of 2017, he had an anterior lumbar interbody fusion surgery.
