Onyango was scouted and accommodated at the academy at a young age, befoe rising through the age-group system. His performances and discipline were crucial in earning a scholarship to former national champions Kakamega High School, a stage that would elevate him to early career breakthrough, as Gor Mahia signed him when he was still a student. I played for the academy until I joined Gor Mahia. I was privileged to be coached by tacticians from Elite and 1000 Street. It is a huge honour to come back here and support the clubs that scouted and nurtured me. Were it not for their efforts, I would not have secured the scholarship to Kakamega and later joined Gor Mahia.I laud Mozzart Bet for introducing the Humanitarian Cheque, in the Cup, as it has been making a difference in the community, especially to academies,” said Onyango.
