Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya has announced that the Ministry of Sports will soon launch a new grassroots tournament dubbed the President’s Cup. The tournament is set to be played from the county level all the way to the national stage.The CS made the announcement on Tuesday morning during a breakfast event hosted by President William Ruto at State House, Nairobi. The event served to honour and appreciate Kenya Police FC and Kenya Police Bullets FC for clinching the FKF Premier League and FKF Women’s Premier League, respectively.##NAJAVA_MECA_8992123##Speaking at the event, Mvurya said the President’s Cup will offer a platform for talent identification and development across the country.“To provide more avenues for talent development, we will soon launch the President’s Cup, which will begin at the county level, then proceed to the regions, and culminate at the national level, where Your Excellency will preside, in line with your vision,” he said.The tournament is expected to mirror the 2023 Talanta Hela competition, spearheaded by former Sports CS Ababu Namwamba.
