KCB’s on form striker reaping the fruits of individual hard work

KCB forward Derrick Otanga has attributed his recent turn of form in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) to going an extra mile in his individual training. After scoring three goals in his first five games for the Bankers early on at the start of the season, the striker hit a snag as he went on a worrying nine match goal drought that stagnated his season. He then found the back of the net against Zoo which counted for nothing as the goal was scrapped following the club’s relegation to division one on allegations of match fixing.Since football’s resumption however, Otanga has been a man in inspired form, netting four goals in the last five matches for KCB with three of the goals being vital match winners that have helped the Zedekiah Otieno side to reclaim top spot in the league table.“I put in some extra work in my personal training. Apart from what we are given with the coaches, at home you will always find me seeking to get an extra edge with my individual training,” the striker revealed.???? | 45+2’Penalty to KCB FC Derrick otanga steps up ⚽Bidco United 0 KCB FC 1#BidcovsKCB#BKPL pic.twitter.com/rwDuWtmQ2q— Betking Kenya Premier League (@Officialfkfpl) June 16, 2021 With KCB holding a slight one-point advantage at the top, the former Wazito man has reiterated the team’s desire to hold onto the advantage and possibly even go all the way in winning the league title this season.“Our aim is to create a gap as big as possible. With the position that we are in, we just have to fight to win every game and take all three points as a draw is not favourable at all. The coach has instilled a mentality in us that we can become champions. That helps us to approach every game with a winning mindset,” he added.⚽️| Did you mention new log leaders?@KCBFootball ????#KCB #BidcoUnited #BKPL https://t.co/ZvdcORQ9qH— Mozzart Sport Kenya (@MozzartSportKe) June 16, 2021 Otanga, who is the club top scorer with seven goals, will be hoping to add onto his tally when they take on Kakamega Homeboyz in the next fixture on Friday, 25th June.
