Following the suspension of sporting activities in 13 Western counties, eight clubs have issued a petition to the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) with a raft of requests including the suspension of the league.This comes after the government on Friday 18th June suspended sports in 13 Western, Nyanza and Rift Valley counties after a surge in Covid-19 cases in the region. The teams include Kisumu All Stars, Migori Youth, Gusii FC, Silibwet Leons, Vihiga Bullets, APS Bomet, Kisumu Hotstars and Soy United. The eight teams argue that most of the counties affected have had fields closed for training and hosting of matches leaving teams with unfair competition due to lack of training.The decision by FKF to allow teams in the affected region to play away games mostly hosted in Nairobi and Narok is impractical to the finances and logistics of the teams affected.Eh Mwenyezi Mungu, tusije kufanananishwa kama Baiskeli ya kunolea visu. Talk to the government be it National or Counties to allow us finish out matches at home at this crucial time of the league without fans,”“To look at the fixtures well because allowing other teams to play and others not will bring in congestion and fatigue thus disadvantages these teams who are also capable by the look of the table also top the said league,” read the communique in part. The teams also want all teams in the National Super League to undergo Covid-19 testing as there is a real threat of spreading the virus while travelling to play away games.
