Nkata proud of outstanding feat with Gor Mahia

Diminutive left-back Fred Nkata is part of an elite list of players who have won the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Cup back to back with two different teams in recent times and is proud to achieve the outstanding feat.Gor Mahia ended their nine-year cup drought in emphatic fashion beating eternal rivals AFC Leopards on Sunday in a nerve-racking penalty shootout following a barren draw in regular time. Nkata bagged the FKF Cup with Bandari back in 2019 after beating 2018 champions, Kariobangi Sharks in the final and with the 2020 edition of the cup annulled due to Covid-19, the 28-year-old is now a back to back cup champion.Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Nkata could not hide his ecstasy after the milestone and having captured the cup two years before he rallied his teammates to their ninth cup victory.Bandari FC new head coach Paul Nkata has acquired the services of his son Fred Nkata #BambaSport pic.twitter.com/IlB8KPj30y— Bamba Sport (@BambaSports) January 26, 2017 “Before we played the finals I was one of the players who have won the cup before and I believed that we are going to win it, I was happy about the achievement and it was evident from how I celebrated the victory,”“Being part of champions is an amazing feeling, I joined Gor Mahia to challenge myself because when I stay in a place where there is no competition, I do not feel like I’m doing enough. Even though I know I have not played enough I know my chance will come,” said Nkata.Since joining the club from Bandari in the mid-season transfer window, Nkata has been used sparingly as Geoffery Ochieng has been preferred ahead of him by head coach Manuel Vaz Pinto. The Ugandan import draw a lot of inspiration from his dad, Paul Nkata who coached him at Tusker and Bandari and revealed that the dad is actively involved in his career.🚨JUST IN 🚨🇰🇪 New @OfficialGMFC signing Fred Nkata makes the travelling squad to Zambia to face @napsastars_fc in the #CAFCC Play Offs.Harun Shakava is conspicuously missing from the squad despite signing earlier than Nkata.#FFP pic.twitter.com/98F8hz1EeO— Friends of Football (@friendsofutball) February 19, 2021 “He is my mentor, he has taught me many things even before we played the finals we talked. He is the reason I have reached this far, because winning a cup with a big club was my dream,” added Nkata. ##EDITORS_CHOICE##
