Kenyan defender off to Germany for pre-season

Kenyan defender Philipp Mwene has been included in the PSV Eindhoven squad that is set to camp in Germany for pre-season as the team steps up its preparation of the new Eredivisie season.The Kenyan defender joined the club at the start of June from Bundesliga outfit Mainz after spending three years with the club with his final season being the most successful.Head coach Roger Schmidt named a 29-man squad that is set for Germany that included five debutants from the PSV academy who will stake a claim of being included in the squad ahead of next season.𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗖𝗔𝗠𝗣 𝗦𝗤𝗨𝗔𝗗 📋#VooruitPSV pic.twitter.com/i4uiz7Oijq— PSV (@PSV) July 5, 2021 The Dutch giants are set to play two friendly matches ahead of their UEFA Champions League qualifiers following an impressive campaign last season that saw them finish second.“PSV will play two exhibition games in Germany. On July 7, PSV will play against Delbrücker SC (starting at 6 PM) and on July 10, the team will practice against VfL Osnabrück (from 4 PM). Both matches will be broadcast live by PSV,” read a statement from the club. Mwene was recently handed number 29 at PSV with his previous number 23 jersey occupied by Noni Madueke who has been linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund. PSV however noted that the numbers might change at the start of the season when the transfer market is closed with the numbers released early for their Champions League qualifiers.An opportunity to show yourselves.
