Talanta out to open nine point gap at the top of NSL log

National Super League toppers FC Talanta will be aiming to open a nine point gap at the top when they play a resurgent Mt.Kenya United at the Gems Cambridge grounds on Sunday.Talanta who hit half a century points last week following their 2-0 win over Mwatate United are six points clear of second placed Kenya Police who will not be in action on Sunday.The team under the tutelage of Ken Kenyatta has been enjoying a superb run in the last weeks as they haven’t tasted defeat in their last six encounters, a run which places them as ideal candidates for promotion.Their quest to inch closer to promotion will however be put to test by the former top flight side who beat Modern Coast Rangers 2-1 in their last game to steer out of the red zone.Mt.Kenya who lost 3-0 in their first leg and sit 17th with 29 points will see their goalkeeper Joel Bataro and Eric Mmata face their former employer.In other matches lined up for the day, Kisumu All Stars will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing walkover dished last week to Silibwet Leons when they tackle APs Bomet at the ASK grounds in Eldoret. Salim Babu’s charges are placed tenth with 34 points while the paramilitary side is ranked two places above their match day opponents with 37 points.Fortune Sacco will be pursuing to scale to second place when they host Mwatate United at the Kianyaga grounds. The Kerugoya based club is perched third with 44 points while the league debutants are ninth with 37 points.Debutants MCF and Soy United will lock horns at the Thika Stadium. MCF who recently shocked Shabana 1-0 are sixth with 39 points while Soy are at the rock bottom of the log with twenty points.
