Lionel Messi breaks another Ronaldo record

The everlasting battle between the two biggest football stars of today – Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo is moving into the non-football field. After holding a number of football related records, the two superstars are now moving into the social media field, off course not because it’s their attention, but merely because of their overall popularity.Messi’s reputation, along with his first ever Argentine trophy is the reason he surpassed Cristiano Ronaldo for the most liked Instagram post. His photo with the Copa America trophy currently has over 20.800.000 likes. Messi posted a photo of himself alongside the Copa America title as he called it a moment of “beautiful madness.” The Argentina international wrote to his 233 million followers: “What a beautiful madness! This is unbelievable! Thank you, God! We are the champions!”𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐬 🤯Lionel Messi sets new record with most liked sports picture in Instagram history! pic.twitter.com/qvSf01Twls— Leo Messi 🔟 (@WeAreMessi) July 19, 2021 So far, Cristiano Ronaldo’s Instagram post had the most likes with Ronaldo, who topped Instagram’s rich list of celebrities, previously held the record of 19.8 million likes for his tribute post to Argentine legend Diego Maradona. Posting a black-and-white photo of himself and Maradona, the Juventus superstar wrote: “Today I’m saying goodbye to a friend and the world is saying goodbye to an eternal genius. In Miami, Messi is attracting great attention by the fans, who are trying to figure out his movements and get a chance to see him or take a picture. Messi was mobbed by dozens of fans as he was leaving the restaurant and had to be led to his car by security guards after fans encircled the eatery’s entrance seeking a selfie with the world-famous player. He surely got a first glimpse of his future life as a superstar in Miami. According to Cadena SER, the Argentine bought a 1.8 billion Ksh luxury apartment in Florida earlier this year – one that contains a 1,000-bottle wine cellar, a private chef and six swimming pools. Messi has been linked with a move to David Beckham’s MLS franchise Inter Miami in the past and the Argentine has refused to rule out a career move to the United States.
