Pamzo hails less fancied Wendo as the hardest to replace in Gor Mahia’s midfield

Gor Mahia interim head coach Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo has clearly resigned to losing former skipper Kenneth Muguna and switched his love to the often forgotten and less talked about defensive midfielder Ernest Wendo. After the departures of the likes of Jacques Tuyisenge, Meddie Kagere, Francis Kahata and most recently Joash ‘Berlin Wall’ Onyango to teams outside the country, Muguna was left as the last remaining star and prized asset that the Kenyan champions had in their books. But after Mozzart Sport revealed Muguna’s imminent departure to Tanzanian side Azam FC, there was worry about the club’s ability in being able to replace the silky midfield operator especially with Muguna’s exit likely being to be a free transfer and the club embroiled in deep financial turmoil. On demand Kenyan International Kenneth Muguna could be on his way to Tanzanian side Azam according to our impeccable sourceshttps://t.co/SRBVVEn5B1— Mozzart Sport Kenya (@MozzartSportKe) July 8, 2021 For the interim head coach though, even if the midfielder goes on to leave the club in what would only be right for his career progression, that transfer would not pose much of a headache and conundrum as compared to the impact losing Wendo would have on the team.According to Pamzo, Wendo is the unsung foot soldier who is always in charge of snuffing out danger from the opponent and is responsible for marshaling Gor through turbulent moments when the team is under siege.“Muguna has been very crucial to us. Besides that, I love him because he will always carry the ball forwards and start attacks. Rarely will you see him taking the ball backwards unless pressed. At Gor if we lose a player like Muguna, we can only be happy for him because I have played outside the country and I know the impact it has on a player. If at all he goes, I can say it would not be much of a problem in replacing him as we have players like Alpha Onyango and Sidney Wahongo,”CapErnest WendoHarambee Stars, 2017.#footke pic.twitter.com/ugXNR52pwV— Footballers Of Our Time (@TransferMarktEA) April 9, 2021 “The one player I would not want to lose is Wendo. He is very very crucial to the team and losing him would be a big blow to the club because it is very hard to replace him,” the head coach said.True to Pamzo’s assessment, and if statistics are anything to go by, rarely would you find Wendo missing on the team’s starting lineup, unless of course he is serving suspension. But that defensive midfielder is truly indispensable.Match Update| 56’⚠️ Yellow Card ⚠️Another game another Ernest Wendo yellow card.
