Gor out to end five-game winless run

Gor Mahia interim manager Sammy “Pamzo” Omollo has tipped the club to return to winning ways when they face Kariobangi Sharks this afternoon at the Thika Stadium. Gor have endured a five-game winless run which has seen them fall fifteen points off the log leaders Tusker.Omollo who took over from Carlos Vaz Pinto will be banking on the return of Geoffrey Ochieng and Sammy Onyango who missed their previous one all draw against Nairobi City Stars to put Sharks to the sword. The league winning tactician with Tusker who conceded to miss the services of his centre back Frank Odhiambo who is with the National U23 team in Ethiopia said that the players had shown the intentions of arresting the poor run in training.👊|Matchday@OfficialGMFC vs @k_sharksfc in Thika from 3:15pm📺|Live on @StarTimesKE#BKPL pic.twitter.com/zTlNBlJQ5v— Betking Kenya Premier League (@Officialfkfpl) July 21, 2021 “This fixture has always been tough but still interesting. I have confidence that we will get positive results going by how we have prepared. At least I have Sammy and Ochieng back who will give me options both in the defence and forward line. We would have loved to have Frank but we have able replacements,” he said. With the club second choice goalkeeper Caleb Otieno who is also in Ethiopia alongside his trainer and former Kenyan international Jerry Onyango, Omollo was forced to lease the services of Alex Mwangi whom they worked together at KCB to handle the goalkeeping department.“Mwangi has been holding brief for Jerry and having worked with him before, I am certain that the two goalkeepers (Gad Isaac and Samuel Njau) will be ready for the match. Concerning the exit of Muguna, we have to move on as its normal for players to seek greener pastures,” he added. While Gor will be out to end their five game run without a win, Sharks on the other hand will be seeking to complete a double over the record champions as well as register their 13th win of the season.🗓️| Kesho we go to them.💭| Your thoughts on tomorrow’s game?#WeAreSharks #BetwaySharks pic.twitter.com/HvRHQ2GsLz— Kariobangi Sharks FC (@k_sharksfc) July 20, 2021 William Muluya’s charges who have won three of their last four matches will miss the services of the trio of Frederick Alushula, Brian Bwire and Boniface Mwangemi who are as also in Ethiopia but club captain Eric Juma is not losing sleep over the unavailability.“We are ready to take on Gor and revenge the FKF Cup loss. The team has picked up its form after going through a rough patch for the better part of last month. We will not have a number of our young players but that will not affect our plan. It is also an opportunity for others to get playing time,” he said. The two sides have met seven times since Sharks were promoted to the top flight in 2017 with Gor winning five of the seven and losing twice to the former.##EDITORS_CHOICE##
