CECAFA U23: Eyes on the semifinal as Emerging Stars play South Sudan

The team better known as Emerging Stars opened their group stage matches with a 3-0 win over Djibouti and a win of any margin against South Sudan will be enough to see them advance to the knockout stage.Ahead of the game, Stars midfielder Vincent Wasambo who started in the opening match has cautioned his teammates against underrating their opponents who boast of having two players; Dani Lual and Saad Musa who ply their trade in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League. Wasambo said that their opponent were unpredictable and called on the team to put their best feet forward and book a place in the last four without much strain. Our #EmergingStars in their final training session before they meet South Sudan tomorrow pic.twitter.com/9cigFgYZN3— Harambee Stars (@Harambee__Stars) July 20, 2021 “This one will be much tougher than the opening match. They have good players who are capable of upsetting us. We have to take them seriously,” said the KCB midfielder.Wasambo’s sentiments were echoed by the team’s left back Lewis Bandi who maintains that their trophy will be coming to Nairobi. The AFC Leopards youngster observed that South Sudan had talented players capable of spoiling their party and thus urged the team to remain focused.Next assignment vs South Sudan 🗓️ Wednesday 21st July 2021🕔1pm EAT#CECAFAU23 #CECAFA2021 pic.twitter.com/4YHVfVc7kF— Harambee Stars (@Harambee__Stars) July 19, 2021 Meanwhile South Sudan forward Dani Lual who plies his trade with Mathare United is convinced that they will carry the day. The lanky striker who was on target when the U20 team Rising Stars squared it out with South Sudan last year said they were unperturbed by the underdog tag perched against their name. “Everyone is rooting for Kenya to prevail but we are equally apt to win the match. I have played with at least all the Kenyan players and I understand their game and their weaknesses. We are determined to kick off the tournament with a win,” he said.
