Mbungo cries foul as Kasumba gets first red card of his career

Bandari head coach Andre Casa Mbungo has labeled the red card dished to his forward Umaru Kasumba during their 2-2 draw with Bidco United as harsh and undeserving. The Ugandan was sent off for a dangerous challenge as his attempted bicycle kick saw him miss the ball and subsequently landed his studs on Francis Oduor’s head who went down writhing in pain. The incident procured the striker who had scored Bandari’s first goal before winning a penalty which drew the club level a straight red card from centre referee Josiah Awiti, his first since making his debut in competitive football career.Mbungo heavily criticized Awiti for his decision saying that the challenge was worth a yellow card as the forward was attacking rather than defending.Kasumba anaonyeshwa kadi nyekundu. 70 : BIDCO 2 V 2 BANDARI pic.twitter.com/iCFbEIL8c8— Bandari Football Club (@BandariOfficial) July 20, 2021 ” His intention was to connect the ball and score and not to hurt the opponent. It was a foul which didn’t warrant a red card at all. I am afraid upcoming footballers will shy from attempting overhead kicks for fear of getting red cards,” he said.Kasumba who joined the dockers in February also sided with his trainer in dissenting to the whistler’s decision. He will sit out in the next game against Posta Rangers and away to Nzoia Sugar. While the two protested the red card, Bidco United head coach Anthony Akhulia kept clear of the theme when asked on his take after his right back David Kalama was red carded for a high boot challenge on Ndemi Keegan.59’| Redcard David Kalama, an early shower for Kalama for a rushed challenge Scores @BidcoUnited 2-1 @BandariOfficial#BKPL pic.twitter.com/eKXr6SdAYE— Betking Kenya Premier League (@Officialfkfpl) July 20, 2021 “The referee was better placed to see the incident and make the right decision. Whether he was right or wrong, I prefer to stick to my job and come up with a way of preparing for the next matches without the player,” he said.Kalama will miss their match away to Nairobi City Stars and at home against Western Stima.
