Vihiga Bullets defender eyes FKFPL step up

Vihiga Bullets centre back Portipher Odhiambo will be banking on the experience he gained from training with the national U23 team, Emerging Stars, to attract offers from top flight teams in the forthcoming transfer window.Odhiambo was part of the provisional squad summoned by coach Stanley Okumbi for the ongoing CECAFA tournament in Ethiopia but did not make the cut when the former Harambee Stars coach named the travelling party.Despite missing a slot in the final team, Odhiambo is hopeful that he will play in the top flight next season courtesy of the experience he gained from rubbing shoulders with his peers who majority are flourishing in the competition.Defenders- CECAFA Jimmy Ndungi (Tusker), Portipher Odhiambo (Vihiga Bullets), Silvester Owino (Homeboyz), Moses Mudavadi (Nzoia), Collins Shichenje (AFC ), Boniface Mwangemi (K. It was a good experience to be in the team and to train with players whom have been inspiring me through the success stories. I learnt how to pass the ball better and how to carry the ball forward quickly instead of launching long balls. I believe I am ready for offers from clubs plying their trade in the top flight,” he said.Odhiambo joined the National Super League side in 2019 from Nakuru All Stars a club he had started out at after completing his studies at the Menengai High School. Having enjoyed the experience of playing with Kakamega Homeboyz defender Sylvester Owino, he says he is eager to follow his footsteps.Congratulations to Portipher Odhiambo and Austin Oduor who made their senior team debuts on Saturday. 👏👏👏👏#AllStars #NakuruPride #NSL2018 pic.twitter.com/phQ9XVb33I— NakuruAllStars (@NakuruAllStars) August 13, 2018 Owino joined Homeboyz at the start of the season from Bullets and has since established himself as a pillar in their defence which boasts of having senior players.
