The David Luiz show is on its way to the foreign legion at Adana Demirspor

The city of Adana in southern Turkey is probably best known for its famous kebab, a meaty dish that’s enjoyed worldwide. But an interesting project is gathering pace in Adana, which might make people notice their football club Adana Demirspor.Former Brazil international David Luiz is going to be the latest big-name player to join Adana Demirspor. Quite a few experienced international players have arrived at the club that’s been promoted to the country’s top tier after a 26-year-long absence. Also, they’ve got a brand new 33,543-capacity stadium just in time to mark their significant return to the big league. 😀👈#AdanaDemirspor pic.twitter.com/1dpeQ5iFjt— Adana Demirspor (@AdsKulubu) July 14, 2021 It’s an exciting time for the club founded in 1940 as a railway worker’s team. The former Benfica, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal centre-back is a free agent since his departure from the Emirates Stadium a month ago. He will become a member of an ambitious squad – that is for sure. Former Italy international Mario Balotelli has recently joined the club from Monza. The former Manchester City, Inter and Milan star was tempted by the Turks and he’s not the only one. Zaire-born former Middlesbrough striker Britt Assombalonga, French ex-PSG and Schalke defender Benjamin Stambouli and Morocco international Younes Belhanda have all arrived to Adana to help the team stay in the Turkish Super Lig. They will be captained by former Switzerland and Napoli star Gokhan Inler. The veteran Swiss-Turkish midfielder has had a notable career in Europe and will be a priceless asset for the club nicknamed The Blue Lightnings. After years of inexplicable delays, the new 🇹🇷 Adana stadium is finally here. I hope we can soon reach an agreement. When salaries are very high, one needs to negotiate a little. We are getting ready for the new season, and I urge our fans to get ready as well. We have signed a world-class star in Balotelli and added Younes Belhanda to our squad. We will sign three or four more players before the season begins.”Although not considered one of the best leagues in Europe, Turkish clubs have been investing heavily in players, infrastructure and grassroots football in the past two decades. It could be an interesting one to follow.
