Team USA will match South Korea for the first time in the women’s Olympic competition with four players in Tokyo, headlined by World No. 1 Nelly Korda, who is joined by big sister Jessica Korda, Lexi Thompson and Danielle Kang. Only Thompson competed for the U.S. in the 2016 Games in Rio.

Inbee Park, the gold medal winner five years ago, will return for South Korea along with Jin Young Ko, Sei Young Kim and Hyo-Joo Kim.

There’s no question that many of the top female players in the world put a priority on the Olympic games as seven of the top 20 players in the world skipped last month’s Amundi Evian Championship to better prepare for the Olympics.

China’s Shanshan Feng and Australia’s Hannah Green went home to their native countries after the KPMG Women’s PGA last June to quarantine and prepare. Feng, the bronze medal winner in Rio and a former No. 1, has suggested that she might even bid farewell to the tour after the Games.
