Blow for Nzoia with Simiyu set to miss Sharks duel

Nzoia Sugar have been handed a massive blow ahead of their Friday Football Kenya Federation Premier League match away to Kariobangi Sharks as their leading scorer Hillary Simiyu is set to sit out of the match. Simiyu will miss the match after picking a slight ankle injury while in training and has confirmed that he will not be fit enough to be summoned for duty against the former Cup holders. “I hurt my ankle while in training and thus will sit on the bench against Sharks. The doctor told me that it is just a matter of days before I recover. I would have wished to be available to help the team steer away from relegation,” he said.🥇 MAN OF THE MATCH 🥇Hillary Simiyu with a brace at Sudi Stadium is our man of match #NzoiaVsWazito#FKFPL pic.twitter.com/3vVa3W5kmG— FKF Premier League (@Officialfkfpl) August 8, 2021 The absence of the goal poacher comes at a time when the club is battling tooth and nail to keep their top flight status. Ibrahim Shikanda’s charges are placed 14th with 29 points, five ahead of Mathare United who have also laid bare their intentions of remaining in the competition after winning their last three matches. The forward who joined the sugar men in February from Division One Zone B side Bungoma Superstars in February has been a consistent goal scorer for Nzoia as he has found the back of the net seven times. His rich form in front of the goal has seen former champions Ulinzi Stars and Tusker express interest in his services despite his limited top flight experience. In his absence, Shikanda is likely to turn to the experienced Philiph Muchuma to fill the void left upfront.⚽️| Nzoia Sugar forward in demand after hardly five months in the top flight#NzoiaSugar #HillarySimiyu #BKPL https://t.co/79MsbXXVpY— Mozzart Sport Kenya (@MozzartSportKe) July 10, 2021 Nzoia are set to take Tusker in their penultimate match of the season before seeking to complete a double over outgoing champions Gor Mahia in their final fixture.
